Can’t Find a Date? Then Move!
Doesn’t it sometimes feel like there just aren’t enough single guys or girls in your city? Well, maybe it’s true!
National Geographic magazine recently published a chart showing the how many more single men and women there are in each major US city. The results: there are a lot of single women in the East Coast and a lot of single men in the West Coast.
One theory is that the West Coast has more high-tech jobs, thereby attracting more men. But does that mean scores of men left their women on the East Coast to work alongside other dudes in narrow cubes under pale fluorescent lights? Lame. And how does it explain Southern California, where Hollywood and the movie industry rules? I see lots of women in Los Angeles, even if they”re part silicon.
Or maybe it’’s something in the water. East Coast water has hormones and bacteria that produces more female babies. Who knows. Someone should alert the guys from Freakonomics to get on this. Meanwhile, maybe you should move to find more dates.

“Lazy daters” is an interesting term. I’ve typically heard that the men in California are wusses and generally passive about asking women out. Maybe it’s like you said – many are just lazy? Hmm…
Ok, I actually saw and kept that National Geographic map. I’m hitting myself for moving from NY to Man Jose.
Haha! Yea, from Man Jose to Man Francisco, it’s all a big sausage fest. Of course, there -are- some single girls out there, but there’s also a lot of competition for them! Welcome to the jungle, dude.
There are a lot of single dudes here in Denver but I would advise against moving here since most of the men I have encountered here are total pricks. I would move to the coast but I have to finish up University.
I wonder if they could factor in how many of those guys are open to dating a transsexual…
I never noticed that before. I’ve heard the men in California are lazy daters. They don’t pursue women. I’m not sure about other parts of the country. I know in Texas, we pursue women more aggressively. I guess that’s why there’s less single women here.
