I have a date coming up and we’re going rock climbing! I got a groupon for Mission Cliffs and the guy wanted to do something different so I suggested it. Not sure how it’ll play out as a first date but I’m trying to think positive so here are a few reasons it’ll be awesome:
1. The whole teamwork aspect of climbing/belaying.
2. He’s never been before, so seeing how he does with learning something new and seeing how athletic he is.
3. A little bit of a competitive challenge but also a good opportunity for encouraging the other person.
4. Plenty of time for talking/getting to know each other.
5. He gets to stare at my a** in my lululemon
6. If all else fails, at least we got a workout in!

Hey people i am very surprised that no one has mention going to a comedy club or romantic places you know womens love to drink and laugh afterward the show you can take her for a walk, get coffee or dessert, talk, and close the deal. That is awesome! It may be a typical date idea, but you made it unique, which always makes things more fun! I think I’m going to try the home rule idea. Sounds like a good flirting technique.

I like the Go Kart racing idea too! I might suggest that to my partner who I met from an Atlanta matchmaker. Bungee jumping is one cool idea as well and I'm looking forward to trying it out with my partner.

Maybe not crazy on its face but on my first date with the woman who would become my wife, I took her miniature golfing.

Now within the first few minutes I knew I really liked her so I told her we both could make one “home rule” while playing and mine was that for every hole-in-one I got she had to give me a kiss (just a peck). She wasn’t nearly as sure about things and she was also smart about it so her “home rule” was I had to play on one foot (a very diplomatic way to say “we’re not kissing tonight” but she still enjoyed the playfulness).

She eventually came around though and on our second date we went bowling and my “home rule” was a kiss for every gutter ball she got. She didn’t protest even though we both new she’s be seeing more gutters than pins.

I guess sometimes a date is what you make of it. Neither miniature golf nor bowling is much on its own but they are both dates we’ll never forget.

I haven’t had a crazy first date but I did do bowling which I think is a good idea. Anytime you do something where the focus isn’t on forcing you to talk is best. Talking will come naturally and you’ll get a better sense of the person. I don’t care for coffee dates or going to the movies unless it’s a thought provoking movie you can talk about afterwards. But I can’t do wings on a first date, too messy.

Personally I would never go to a movie on a first date. You can’t talk and get to know someone! I agree with CityBoy.. a place that I’m comfortable where I can have a drink and relax. I think if one person is relaxed and comfortable, the other will feel the same.

Go Kart racing for me, because it’s a competitive thing where we are on an equal footing skill-wise. Then someplace casual and fun for a bite.

Ahh, the first date. Yes, it is critical for the guy to have a plan, and here’s mine. I like to start my date off really casual and comfortable, so I like to meet at a bar where I’m a regular. This works out well because the staff knows me and makes sure my date and I are taken care of. This is a winner, and gets things started off on the right foot. I then like to take a date to do something competitive. For me, an easy winner is Bocce. Anyone can play, it’s not complicated, and it’s something she’s never or rarely played. A good bocce court is usually attached to a restaurant and/or cafe, so you can get another drink or some dinner after/during the game. As a guy, I like to do something competitive, because it gives me a chance to poke a little fun at her or place a silly little wager. If you lose, you can show her that you can still have fun and be laid back in the face of a little adversity. If you win, you get to show her that you’re a gracious winner, and even help her to get a little better (like an alpha dog would do). At that point, we either grab a bite to eat, or go our separate ways. Bocce is a great first date.
